The Aggies offense took on UTEP’s defense in round one, shutting out the Miners for a 507-0 win. In round two the Utah State defense came back from a 200-0 deficit after two questions to claim a 210-200 victory.

UTEP didn’t go down without a fight. The Miners coaches swept the second question (Name another word for yes) in the third round, building a 200-68 lead. They buzzed in first on the third question (Name an electronic almost every student has), producing the No. 3 answer (computer). Utah State stole control with the top answer (cell phone) and put one more answer up on the board before handing it back to UTEP. The coaches said calculator, drawing several laughs from the Aggies and even a few boos from the Miners players. But they had the last laugh, stealing the points with the correct and final answer for the 500-68 win.

The final round pitted the UTEP coaches against the Utah State offense. Utah State held a slim 138-71 lead after two questions. The Miners buzzed in first, producing the No. 2 answer (sleep) on the third and final question: Name something old people do a lot. They put three of the top seven answers on the board before recording three strikes and giving Utah State and chance to steal. The Aggies said, “play bingo” and were awarded the points for the win, even though the answer was really, “play board games.”
