The Arizona Wildcats swept the first three rounds en route to the Survey Says crown at the annual Gildan New Mexico Bowl team dinner at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The first round pitted the offenses against each other. Arizona took the first two questions, building a 290-0 lead. On the final question of the round, "Name a creepy place/thing in a spooky house," Arizona seemed like it'd be an easy sweep, buzzing in first with "ghost". It wasn't on the list, but New Mexico came up with the No. 2 answer (attic) to take control. The Lobos came up with the top 4 of 6 but it wasn't enough, tallying 243 points.
In round two, the defenses faced off. New Mexico built a 254-0 lead but the Wildcats are the come-back kings, and took the round with 276 points.
The coaches squared off in round three, and it was all Arizona. The Wilcats won 501-0, catapulting them into the extra round with the highest score of the night.
The bonus round was the most contested match of the night as the UofA coaches took on the Lobo defense. After the first two questions, Arizona led by just 12 points. New Mexico grabbed the momentum on the final question, which was "Name something people like to do on a lazy day". The Lobos buzzed in with the top answer (sleep) and went on to put of the top-5 of 6 answers. Arizona went for the steal with "nothing" but the answer was "hang out with friend", giving UNM their sole win of the evening.
